A Gift That Honors a Life, a Family Legacy, a Special Occasion: Memorials and Tributes
If you have a loved one who has been influenced or inspired by Miss Porter’s School, establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor your loved one or celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary while supporting our mission. Your memorial or tribute gift will be a lasting tribute to your loved one and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
When Sarah's mother passed away, she knew she wanted to do something that would establish a lasting legacy for her. She remembered that during her mother’s lifetime she was always praising Miss Porter’s School for its work educating young women to help shape our changing world. So Sarah decided to make a gift to MPS in her mother's name using appreciated securities. Not only will her mother's legacy live on at MPS thanks to the gift, but Sarah also received a federal income-tax charitable deduction (because she itemizes her taxes) and eliminated capital-gain tax on the securities.
Special Occasions: Please tell us to whom we should send a card to let them know of your gift. Include their address.
Honor those who inspired you. If you have a teacher, advisor, coach, dorm parent, classmate etc. who inspired you, think about honoring them through this type of gift.
Start a named fund in honor or in tribute of someone. Gifts can be designated to set up named scholarships, teaching funds, teaching chairs, and more. When the gift threshold is met, the named fund will commence. Gifts can also be paid over time.
